Spring Cleaning: some people love it; some people hate it, but it’s hard to deny that there is something in the spring air that makes us want to shake off the dust and embrace the freshness.

However, spring cleaning can also be associated with rubber gloves, volatile chemicals, and overpowering smells of ammonia. Don’t let that spring cleaner be you! There are plenty of environmentally friendly ways to clean. While it may seem easier to just buy a product that says it’s “green”, you can also make your own cleaners. There are plenty of recipes on the internet that involve recognizable ingredients like lemon juice, vinegar, and baking soda. It’s not hard, I promise, and it fits perfectly into a college budget!

Spring is also a good time to clean up your diet. Now, I’m not the type of person to advocate a crazy juice cleanse, but simply adding more fruits and vegetables to your diet will make you feel a lot better! Remember, organic is better for you and the planet! One thing I’ve been super pumped about lately is all the new organic food in the dining hall. Look for some there, or hit up your nearest farmers’ market for some local goods. If you haven’t been to the Soulard Market, definitely check it out! You’ll be glad you did.
