Sarah- A Turning Point In History

by Fontbonne University on October 31, 2008

in Academics,Campus Community

The turning point for me in history was seeing Barack Obama accept his Democratic nomination on the 45th anniversary of Martin Luther’s famous “I Had A Dream” speech. Barack Obama is the first African-American to ever run for an executive political office in the United States of America. He is a major icon for all of the American people.

Fontbonne had many activities recognizing the debates. First, we all went up to the DSAC to watch the second Presidential debate. Afterwards a teacher, Jack Luzkow, led students in a discussion of the different political sides. He was very informative, and he helped to explain why they did certain things in the debate. Then, Fontbonne had another debate watching party for a certain class on campus. Anyone could go though. The whole DSAC was packed with all ages of people. You could even grab a bite to eat at the Griffin Grill and then sit down and watch the debate. It was fantastic!

For more activities on campus check out student life! If politics interest you, Fontbonne’s Pre-law or History majors could be a perfect fit!
