As you all are aware, Valentines day is coming up. Take time to show anyone of importance how much you love them. Rather it is by spending time with them, giving a hug, or even a smile. Love is not shown in how much money you can spend on that person, it is simply shown by your geniune actions. This Valentines day will be something special for me and hopefully you too. Even a hand made card can say alot to your loved one. Don’t be afraid to branch out and love.

It’s “LOVE” Day!

HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY!!!

It’s the official day to show and share some love! Whether you’re single or in a relationship, just love and be loved. It doesn’t have to be with a boyfriend/girlfriend. I’m sure it’s safe to have your best friend as a Valentine, right?

As for me, I do have a boyfriend. Hehe. His name is Michael, and this is our 5th Valentine’s Day together. THE FIFTH! And it never gets old. I truly do love this guy, and I’m always giggling at the thought of giving him something that I’ve made just for him. I hope he likes it!

For everyone out there, don’t be so sad if you don’t have a particular crush as your Valentine. Your mom, dad, brother, sister, pet, teacher, etc. could be your Valentine! Just don’t make things awkward or too weird, right? :)

Have an awesome day and weekend!

Valentine’s Day

by Kristen on February 12, 2014

As you all probably know by now, Valentine’s Day is this Friday.  For many people, Valentine’s Day is a chance to show loved ones you are thinking about them.  For others, Valentine’s Day is a bitter reminder that they have no one to share the special day with.  For me, the end of Valentine’s Day brings sales on chocolate.  Which is basically like buying happiness.

Throughout my life, I have been in both the single and dating positions during Valentine’s Day, and I have decided that each has its own pros and cons.  It’s nice to have a dinner date and a new dress to look forward to—which is what I’m doing this year.  I’m excited to spend time with my boyfriend, but I’ve also spent the holiday having quality Kristen time.  Both are enjoyable, and no matter which you try, you should do something special this Valentine’s Day.  Below, I have listed a few suggestions of how you might do that.

All the single ladies:

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with being single on Valentine’s Day, so celebrate yourself!  Buy yourself flowers, go out to dinner with your friends, see a chick flick (with no complaints from a boyfriend).  Of course, single men can also do fun things on Valentine’s Day.  Play video games.  Try to pick up single girls.  Eat steak (food makes me happy, you can probably guess).  Meet up with friends and do whatever it is boys do when they’re together.  And if you’re really feeling generous on Friday, try surprising a friend with flowers, candy, or a card.  The only thing better than getting something yourself is to surprise someone else.  You never know who needs a card, a nice word, or a smile.

Date-night duos:

If you’re planning a romantic date with your significant other, there are many options you can choose from.  I have seen commercials for several different movies coming out for Valentine’s Day, any one of them could make a great date night.  If you are free in the morning, you might consider having brunch together; if you want to do the traditional thing, you can make dinner reservations and have a lovely night together.  There are also a million other things you could do in Saint Louis that aren’t food related—ice skating, the science center, a walk through Forest Park, a visit to the zoo, meandering through the downtown area with all its shops and architecture.  I hear that the Boathouse Annex in Forest Park is providing music and snacks some of the day.  As long as you’re spending time together, I’m sure you’ll have a great day.

I’m going the traditional route this year; my boyfriend and I made reservations at an Italian restaurant.  I was feeling particularly romantic while planning and mailed him a card.  I also have plans to surprise him with a gift and chocolate-covered strawberries.  Don’t tell!

Whatever you decide to do on Friday, make it something special.  It doesn’t have to be a depressing day—it can be what you make of it!

V-Day Spirit

by Carlyn February 10, 2014

I’m not usually one to celebrate Valentine’s Day, but this year is a different story. No, I will not be celebrating by wishing for a stuffed bear, box of chocolates, or a dozen roses. I am in the spirit thanks to my involvement with FAB (Fontbonne Activities Board) and ODK (Omicron Delta Kappa honors leadership […]

Love Nest in AB

by Carlyn February 5, 2014

Last semester I was in a visual merchandising class. Throughout the semester, the entire class was in charge of building the window displays in Anheuser-Busch (AB) Hall (there are three different ones). It was a lot of fun to come up with a creative idea, and then see that image come to life. I didn’t […]

Today, as all of you know, is Valentine’s Day. I do have that special someone in my life I would have loved to be with, but because of school we were unable to be together. So what’s a girl to do when she’s alone on Valentine’s Day? Girl’s night! Tonight, after Griffin Girls practice,  most […]

My Valentine’s Day!

by Alumni Posts February 16, 2012

There are a lot of mixed emotions about Valentine’s Day. I, personally, think Valentine’s Day is wonderful! My wife and I have been married for 3 and a half years. Even though we love each other every other day, it is always fun to celebrate our love for each other. This year we made a […]
