resident student

There have been a lot of changes this semester. I have all night classes and online classes, but that is not very exciting. However, I decided to become a resident at Fontbonne. I am very pleased with this decision. I live in Medaille, and I enjoy dining at Fontbonne — there have been significant changes. My favorite dessert is the lemon and blueberry cake with lemon mousse. I enjoy the smoothies in the DSAC. I have made lots of new friends. When I lived at home I didn’t get to see them very often. Now I see them everyday. Last weekend I went roller skating with the Residence Hall Association. Next weekend I will go to a birthday party for a friend. I also enjoy walking on the track in DSAC. I listen to Pandora.

I am also excited that 2 of my 8-week classes are almost over. I am taking quantitative analysis and Public Policy. I am working on my final projects for these classes and hope to do well. After that I will just be continuing my other class and that’s it! My 5 week course starts next month but that should be fairly easy, its GOV101.

Decorating my dorm room was one of my favorite parts of moving in! It can be difficult squeezing all of your belongings into such a small area, but it is possible! This is my second year living in the dorms and I have found what works best for me in the small space. I think it is important to make your room as comfortable as possible, as you will be living there for about nine months. I would suggest bringing plenty of pictures, a cozy blanket, your favorite quotes/ images/ posters, and maybe a rug if your room isn’t carpeted. I have found those large plastic three-drawer organizers very useful because they can hold a lot of things and are easily able to be tucked away. I even put some colored paper in front of the clear part of the drawers to give it some personalization!

Here is a list of things that I think are important for anyone living in small space:

-Command Hooks: actual hooks and the velcro ones!

-Push pins (for a bulletin board if your room has one)

-String lights

-A three-drawer organizer

-An ottoman (the hollow ones can hold so many things and they make for a great foot rest!)

-Plenty of picture frames with pictures of friends and family

-Pillows, pillows, pillows!

-Bins (bins and containers of all shapes, sizes and colors are wonderful for holding things such as: lotions, paper/ notebooks, snacks, stationery, etc!)

Below are a few pictures of my drawer organizer, bins, and entire room!

My Room on Campus

Every dorm room is almost the same size here at Fontbonne. My room is a double, but I paid for a single which means it is just me. My door has my own style of just random or funny pictures. I have some Walking Dead and pro wrestling pictures on there. I have a carpet I bought to help it make it feel more like home. The walls have photos and posters posted on them. One of the most important things is my Ohio State Buckeyes Flag hanging on the way too. I use one of the desks to hold my T.V., VCR, and video game systems. I have a nightstand that has two containers as the bottom and one more as a place to hold the rest of my stuff.
