Inauguration Week

Last week, I discussed Inauguration Week events. I promised I would post pictures as the events unfolded. And here they are! I am extremely pleased with how successful everything went.

Dr. Mike Pressimone is now officially the 14th president of Fontbonne University. This is an occasion that will go down in history, and I was very glad to be a part of it. The ceremony on Friday in which he gave his Inaugural Address was outstanding, and made me even more proud to call myself a Griffin. The ball on Saturday was the perfect way to celebrate the end of the week. It is so much to get dressed up for formal occasions. The ball was at the Science Center, where there was an amazing view as you walked along the bridge for pictures, delicious food, and fun music. It was so nice seeing students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the Pressimone family all come together for a special evening together.

Here’s to a great new beginning for the Fontbonne community!

This week Fontbonne University officially welcomed Dr. Pressimone as the fourteenth president of the university. Many events took place throughout the week, the final one being the Inaugural Ball. The Inaugural Ball took place at the St. Louis Science Center including the long skyway that goes across I-64E. The event included a mashed potato bar, a photo booth, and plenty of dancing! This was an event to celebrate Dr. Pressimone and his family and conclude the inauguration week. The event was vlassy one open to students, staff, faculty, and friends and family. It was such a blast! The DJs played a wide variety of songs and the dance floor was constantly crowded! The event was very class and overall a great end to a great week!

Here are some pictures from the photo booth and the fun props:

Inauguration Week is here! There has been so much discussion, planning, and hype about this week since the end of last spring semester. Fontbonne has a new president who started this year: Dr. Mike Pressimone. In celebration of his beginning at Fontbonne, the week of November 10-15 has been dedicated to welcoming events.

Through my involvement in Omicron Delta Kappa (ODK), Student Government Association (SGA), and Fontbonne Activities Board (FAB) I have helped plan three events for Inauguration Week. ODK is hosting Last Lecture, which is an annual speaker series. Dr. Sommer, who has been a longtime professor at Fontbonne, is delivering a speech. Then, there is a nice dessert reception to follow. SGA is hosting the Fall Festival, in which all the student organizations across campus run various game and craft booths. Finally, FAB is ending the week with a formal Inauguration Ball. This is not like a traditional student school dance held on campus. Faculty, staff, students, alumni, and anyone in the Fontbonne community are invited. Also, it is held at the Science Center. I am so excited to see everyone dressed up and having a fun, fancy evening together. Dr. Pressimone’s entire family will be there as well (which includes 12 kids!).

Stay tuned as the week unfolds. I’ll come back and post pictures from various Inauguration Week events.
