Did you hear about the Magic House Event? It’s an annual reunion event for Fontbonne Alumni and their families. I just signed up to be a volunteer for this event to welcome all the Fontbonne Alumni. I was so excited to join this event because I have never been to the Magic House since I thought it was a museum for children.
However, I was wrong because I really had so much fun there with all the volunteers, staffs and our alumni. My job in this event was to be in charge of the snack bar for our alumni and their family. We offered chips, water, and juice for all the people who were hungry and thirsty. Isn’t it sweet?
A lot of alumni brought their whole family- children, grandparents, nieces and nephews to join this event together. I met one of my Fontbonne’s instructors who brought her husband and daughter to join this event. I was so happy I saw her family to celebrate this reunion together. During this event, Fontbonne’s “mascot”, which is the cutest “Gunner”, was the popular one. I can tell every kid loved our mascot and want to take a picture with our Gunner.
Although the Magic House is a children’s museum, it a good place for a family event. They provide hands-on education equipment and materials for children, parents and all ages. Visitors can learn something via playing together. It is a really unique museum for everyone who wants to have fun with friends together. I’m hoping you’ll have fun there.
For those of you who read my blog last week, you’ll remember that I wrote about never receiving a prize from Gunner for wearing purple on Purple Pride Day. Since Purple Pride Day was yesterday, I want to update all of you.
On Fridays, my last class ends at 11:50, so I’m usually out the door and in my car by 12:00. As I was passing the Meadow while walking out to the parking lot, I saw a big, furry individual in Fontbonne attire exiting the DSAC. Obviously, I had found Gunner. (Or had he found me???) I was so excited when the girl who walked with him pointed at me and said, “Gunner, she’s wearing purple!”
Gunner opened up his sack of goodies, and I choose a big Crunch bar. Then, he gave me a big thumbs up. I guess even Gunner reads our Fontbonne blogs. So thanks, Gunner, for being one of my loyal readers. And thanks for the Crunch bar – it was yummy!!!
This past week, Fontbonne students, faculty, and staff received an email reminding them that next Friday is Purple Pride Day. During these random Fridays throughout each semester, everyone who wears Fontbonne’s signature purple color is supposed to receive a prize from Gunner.
This leads me to my question, “Where’s Gunner?” Last semester, I proudly dressed in purple for every Purple Pride day. On one of those days, I even put my hair up in a purple scrunchie. I looked for Gunner everywhere as I walked to and fro around campus, but he was no where to be seen. And the thing that was funny was that all of my friends seemed to just run into him. In Chemistry, my friend Marielle said, “Look at the candy cane I got from Gunner!” She had been in meeting that Gunner invited himself in to. Another time, all of my friends at lunch in the DSAC had received special prizes and candy from Gunner a mere five minutes before I arrived .
Hopefully this week I’ll be able to find Gunner. I’d really like to receive my prize once and for all.
