Windy City Weekend

This past weekend was a much needed all girls weekend to Chicago! For my cousin’s birthday, my mom, two aunts, cousin, and myself took a little trip up there. Friday was spent mostly dedicated to traveling. We did do a little bit of shopping on Michigan Avenue at night. For dinner, we ate some good ole, traditional, Chicago deep dish pizza. We ended the night playing fun games at our hotel (and threw a little homework time in there).

Saturday morning out on town began with a Chicago Theatre tour. Being such a dramatist, I really enjoyed getting to learn about its history and seeing backstage. From there, it was time to shop in Macy’s for quite a while. We even ended up dining there for lunch. Next, we made our way to Millennium Park, which is a major tourist attraction. The Bean was a must-see while in this area. Embracing the cold winds, we walked another couple miles up Michigan Avenue again for some additional shopping. Dinner was spent at a sports bar and grill because the World Series was on. It was different, but fun, watching the Cardinals win with potential Cubs fans around us.

Sunday morning already marked the day to check out of the hotel. To end our trip in Chicago, we were those typical tourists that soared to the 103rd floor of the Willis Tower (formally known as the Sears Tower). Of course, the view was amazing. The most fascinating part was walking on the Skydeck, which is platform made entirely of glass. I’ll admit it was a little nerve racking taking that first step, looking straight down to the street, feeling like I could fall 1,451 feet. But it was actually really neat. By the time we waited in line and walked around Willis Tower, it was about time to fly back to home sweet home St. Louis.
