Avenged Sevenfold

People who don’t know me that well or just meet me randomly wouldn’t guess that I would like metal/hardcore rock music. I love it!! It is what I have grown up with and when I found out that Korn and Avenged Sevenfold were headlining I just had to go. Mayhem fest was last week at the Verizon amphitheater; this was my second Mayhem experience and it is my favorite. It was so much fun and all of the bands were really good. The weather was so perfect, only high in the 70′s. Thank you! The last Mayhem fest I went to was the Chicago one four years ago and it was SUPER hot. Phew, dodged a bullet on that.

I had a few interesting experiences. For the band Miss May I, my friends and I were up close to the stage, which I knew might have been a bad idea for small people like myself. Yeah, it was. People like to crowd surf at these things and of course they were coming in my direction. Trying to push people double or even triple your size is tough. I went down a couple of times, but got right up to push more people out of the way so they wouldn’t fall on the concrete. I was more concerned with their safety than mine. After Miss May I the next band was Suicide Silence, which I love but there was no way I was staying in that crowd. I needed a break. I am glad I was on the sideline because Ice T walked passed me! He was performing with one of the bands. I am a huge Law and Order:SVU fan so when I saw him I almost died (not really, but you know what I mean).

It was such a fun day. Totally worth my $32. I got to see on of my favorite bands (Avenged Sevenfold) and had a great time with my friends.

Hello all! I had another amazing weekend! I saw Avenged Sevenfold at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater on Friday night. This was my first rock concert there, and it was a totally different atmosphere than the country concerts I have been to there. Which I expected. This was the first time I saw Avenged Sevenfold too, so I was super pumped. I went with three of my new friends from this semester, and it was a great bonding time together. The first opening act was a band called Ghost BC. Creepy right? The guitar and drum player was really good and talented. The lead singer though, he was, well… odd. His singing was not good at all, he had make-up on that made him look like a skeleton, and he dressed up like he was the Pope. The only thing I liked was the guitar playing. The next opening act was Deftones.  I have heard of them but not their music. Some songs were okay but I wouldn’t go out of my way to search for their songs to listen to. Finally Avenged Sevenfold came on and it was epically awesome! They played a lot of my favorite songs and did a tribute to the Rev. The Rev passed away in 2009 due to an accidental overdose of prescription drugs and alcohol. That was an emotional moment for me and other fans. This was probably one of my favorite concerts I have been too. I will see them again!

Rock on Griffin Nation.
