As many of you know, Fontbonne has a dedicated semester every fall. This year’s dedicated semester theme is sustainability. During the past dedicated semesters, I had not made it to many of the on campus events. Not because I didn’t want to, but because it is very difficult to make it because of class and job conflicts. This semester I am making it a point to make it to as many of the events as I can. So far I have made it to two events: the showing of the movie, Carbon Nation, and a presentation given about the ecovillage in The Central West End. I can say that I am really glad I attended both events because they really opened my eyes to the immediate threats of global warming and how our planet is rapidly changing. I would highly encourage everyone to make it to at least one dedicated semester event, even if it may be a little out of your element. You may be really surprised at what you can learn and take away from it!
This is my third year at Fontbonne, and I cannot even count the numerous memories that I have created with so many great friends. Some of my favorite memories are of my closest friends and I killing time between classes in the DSAC or random places around campus and joking around, talking about boys, and just enjoying each other’s company. Since I have never been a resident, I don’t have many of the college memories such as hanging out in the dorm rooms or crazy roommate stories. But I think my memories are worth just as much. I especially treasure the times we sat in the DSAC watching Cardinals’ playoff games and our traditional Starbucks runs down in the Loop. No matter what your college experience consists of, it is always possible to create everlasting memories with the people that mean the most to you. I am looking forward to a fantastic senior year with more great memories to come!
Wow! I can’t believe my senior year is already here. Since it has been a little over a year since I have blogged, I would like to take a moment to reintroduce myself. My name is Whitney, and I am a senior at Fontbonne University I am studying Speech-Language Pathology (SLP). I am a commuter and do not play any sports for the school, but I still feel completely connected and at home at Fontbonne. I love the campus and the faculty and staff. They have all been amazing at helping me get through the past three years and preparing me for the years ahead! I am going to apply to Fontbonne’s SLP graduate program this fall with fingers crossed that this is where I will attend graduate school. But, that’s enough about me. I hope everyone’s school year is off to a wonderful start! Don’t forget to take advantage of the Dedicated Semester events, and remember, no matter how busy or stressful school gets, always take time to enjoy St. Louis with good friends!
