It takes A team

When it comes to putting on a performance you have to have a team to make it work. From the director first starting out with an idea, to them going to the designers to execute their vision, to the actors come together to make it all come alive on stage. It takes everyone to really bond and work together to create a great experience for the audience. After being in the latest Fontbonne theatre production of “Fit” I truly recognize that it takes a team to make it all work. Without out the lighting, the sets, the sounds, and the costumes, plays would be nothing more than a scene read. All these aspects is what makes theatre come alive and I am so grateful to do this with my Fontbonne family. I love theatre and I truly happy I came to Fontbonne to live out my dreams with other people who care just as much!

It chose me

“Why did you chose Fashion Merchandising, why did you chose theater?” Questions I hear quite frequently from people wanting to know the reason behind my two very creative major choices. Well personally I’d like to think that my  majors chose me. I say this because since I was a small child these two things just seemed so right for me. At the age of three I knew I wanted to be inside of the TV, it felt like when I finally got to go to performing arts school that this is what I needed in my life to make me feel whole. When it comes to fashion I felt that same feeling, I wanted to create, sell, style, any and everything I could possibly think of in the fashion world. All in all I could never see myself doing anything but staying in these two fields, they make who I am and I am completely dedicated to making lasting careers out of the majors I have chosen. I feel amazingly blessed that I can peruse my two loves at the awesome university we call Fontbonne!

What does it truly mean to dress for success? Now that I am talking an interpersonal communication class I get to explore what this truly means. When it comes to meeting people in regular social interactions to serious job interviews, your clothes are always communicating something. Are you trying to show you are a young professional or and underachiever. In some situations clothing can truly make or break you. The way I feel about dressing for success is that you should always dress like you have something important to do. But then again I could be a little bias because I am so into fashion, hence my major being Fashion  Merchandising. In the end I just want to people to understand that sometimes it does matter what your wearing. So for that important job interview or if you just want to be sharp that day, Dress for Success!

Well I am pleased to say that I am now a part of a major group at Fontbonne. The stresses of interviewing are over because now i’m officially a FOCUS leader. I am so happy to start this new journey and possibly become a role model for incoming freshman. I am ready to bond with the other leaders and create lasting friendships. Here’s to a new start with new people! Yayy FOCUS!!

New Year, New Me.

by Marki January 24, 2014

I know I am extremely late with the whole “new year” posts, but now I finally have time to share about how things are going to be different for me in 2014. I have coined 2014 the year of work. From working in my classes to working in the theatre, this year I am becoming [...]
