New year, new people, new dorm, new blog post. There are lots of new things happening this year. Since I am now a sophomore, I have moved over to Medaille Hall, and no offense to The Joe, but I am liking Medaille much better! Since I am in Medaille, I have access to the Griffin’s Nest. You’re probably wondering what a Griffin’s Nest is — it is the 4th floor of Medaille, and it has a kitchen, lounge and games. It is a pretty awesome place. It is open to all students, but it much more convenient going up to it now that I live in Medaille.

My friends and I have really been taking advantage of the Griffin’s Nest. Every Tuesday we gather there and we make a homemade dinner, and we call it “Family Dinner.” ‘Cause if you can’t go home for family dinner the next best thing is to enjoy a meal with your school family. It really is a nice feeling to sit down and share a meal that you made with some friends, and it also has the perks of great dessert! :) Tonight I will be enjoying Shrimp Linguni Pasta and cookies, it sounds good just typing it. So, tonight when you sit down for dinner with your family, enjoy it! Don’t take it for granted!

See you next week,

These past weeks have been quite stressful on me. I could let things get to me, be upset, or have a mental breakdown. OR I can make myself to-do lists, and I can have the mindset of I CAN DO THIS. Once you tell yourself you can’t do something, then you won’t. It is not hard to back away and be a coward. It is hard to stand up, say you can do something, and study your butt off to meet the grades that you need. This thinking really applies to my life right now. I would love to just go off and hide in a corner and not do anything, but that is not possible. There is only a little over a week left in this school year, and it is time to finish what I have started. Until then, I will be studying, doing what is right, and counting down the hours until summer. Only 229 left! (I think… I was never good at math.)

Pile Up

The end of the semester is nearing. I am pretty sure my teachers have collaborated against me. It is the end of the year crunch. Projects, tests, papers, homework! When will it end! My advice for you is that no matter how many things pile up, you still need to take time for yourself. It doesn’t matter if it is twenty minutes or two hours, everyone still needs that personal time. Without that, you will go crazy! It is a lot easier to take some time to relax, figure out how you are going to deal with everything and get it done! Personally, this method seems to work best for me. It is better to organize your thoughts and hold out until the end. After that, it is 3 months of freedom!

So go ahead, listen to some country music (yes country music haters, it really is relaxing), and survive :)

Spring Break and now Easter break? It feels like summer to this former Catholic School girl. All through high school, I had no spring break and no Easter break. We were always given Holy days off leading up to Easter, and we also had Easter Monday off. Having all of these breaks so close together are making me slightly lazy. It is time to snap out of it! I have still have about a month of school left, and that means a month of hard work and concentration. I think the library and I will soon become friends. I am happy to say that I have almost survived my first year of college. Surviving is half the battle! With that I will leave you with my favorite summer song! Enjoy :)

Being Susie Homemaker

My Spring Break was a week of extreme relaxation, and that is exactly what I needed! I worked every day, at the place where I had my first job. I love it there so much that I would work without pay! When I wasn’t working, I was catching up with some grade school friends and [...]

Spring Break

by Elizabeth P. March 12, 2012

In college, it seems everyone goes away for Spring Break. I was going to be one of them. I was possibly going to take a few friends from Fontbonne to Gulf Shores. Unfortunately, that did not work out, because someone already had the condo the week we wanted it. Instead, my mom and I were [...]

Meet Me At The Muny!

by Elizabeth P. March 6, 2012

One of my favorite things about St. Louis would have to be The Muny. Whether you have a seat up front or you are in the free seats (Yes, FREE!) you will always have a good time. The Muny is an outdoor theater located in Forest Park. Forest Park itself is full of so many [...]

My Major

by Elizabeth P. February 21, 2012

Figuring out what you want to do is always a tough decision. When I was a little girl I wanted to work at McDonald’s. Thankfully, your idea of a perfect job changes as you get older. Up until high school, I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life. I didn’t even [...]

A Good Start

by Elizabeth P. February 7, 2012

Well, we are few weeks into the semester and I am already back into the swing of things. I am doing all my homework, going to class, and using my planner effectively. If I keep this up all semester I could get straight A’s! Only time will tell! Until then, I will continue to work [...]
