Fontbonne After Dark is a podcast that me and Lauren (fellow blogger) created as a way to have our own “radio station” on campus. I had always thought of having my own talk show or being a host on a radio show because who doesn’t want to be in the industry? After I saw an episode of ‘Kourtney and Khloe take Miami’,  Khloe had a radio show titled ‘Khloe After Dark’ and she talked about anything she wanted; I knew from that moment that I wanted to do something of that nature. It was the summer of 2015 that i sat down and mapped out three episodes of what is now ‘Fontbonne After Dark’. I discussed the premise of the show and what it could potentially be, since we are a small campus; however, my peers said this was an amazing idea. Time moves on and like any other person who is creating a show, they look for co-hosts and i stumbled upon my good friend Lauren. Immediately she on board and we were soon on our way. It was the summer on 2016 that the two of us started to get down t business.

In the month on July, I created the intro and outro music of the show alongside some promo for the social media. After that was done, Lauren gather some equipment that we could use to start our journey. At first, things were shaky because we didn’t know how to use the microphone or the hand-held device but we figured it out. Later own in this process we recorded a trial episode to ship to a professor that was going to help us get started. Lauren handled all of the logistics and I handled the promotional pieces. The school year begins and we are ready to take off. Our first episode on Leadership had some really good views and Lauren and I are happy thhat this project that we’ve been working on for about a year is actually happening. Fontbonne After Dark premiered on Thursday, September 29th via Twitter.

Hello all, my name is DeMarcus Davis and I have returned back to the blogging scene! It’s been a while since the summer and I am still trying to shake that “summer time sadness” because it was just too much fun. Now that school has kicked off and we are almost finished with the semester….I know, it’s crazy and I don’t want to talk about it either; however, we have to. Later, in my blogs to come, I will discuss more about the fall weather, my podcast, ‘Fontbonne After Dark’, and senior year! Just hold tight and join the ride with fun adventures from friends and campus programs that Fontbonne organizations put together for a memorable experience.

It’s A Wrap!

by DeMarcus on August 8, 2016

in College Life

The summer has officially come to an end. My Griffin 101 duties have ended as well as my status as a summer RA. This summer has truly been an adventure. Hanging out with with friends, going to Delaware, and finally piecing together a podcast that I’ve been working on for over a year. To see the hard work pay off is incredible; especially when you’re working with friends that support your ideas and goals even when they seem hazy at first. My Griffin 101 Team has showed me that confidence is key in any situation, Residence Life has taught me how to be more accommodating for other people and that everything doesn’t go as planned. Lastly, I’ve learned from my “roommates” that it’s okay to treat yourself to a night out on the town every once in a while…or every other weekend. All in all the summer sixteen was a success and I wouldn’t trade it for anything else. Now, I am preparing for my senior year and all it has to offer.

See you all in a week!

Summer Get-A-Ways

by DeMarcus on July 5, 2016

in After College

While we haven’t quite reached the summer solstice just yet, some friends from Room 316 and I have started to plan for next summer. We were watching “Gossip Girl” season 2 when Blair was returning back home to the Hamptons with her new boyfriend, while Chuck Bass was waiting for her with a bouquet of flowers….that didn’t end so well, but anyway… that was when we all agreed that we should go to the Hamptons. Another friend suggested that we should Airbnb. Airbnb is this website that you can go and request to live in another person’s house while they are away on vacation. I then looked on the website to view the various homes that are located in the Hamptons. Some of the houses looked amazing from the outside but hideous on the inside. The houses that were outstanding both inside and out either cost too much or did not have adequate living space for seven people. In addition to that, the owners did not want parties inside their homes… like you live in a secluded area with no entertainment. Moving on, we scraped that idea, and I started to look at Miami.

Miami is way cheaper and affordable for freshly soon to be graduated college students. I believe we came to this conclusion because we were all watching “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” and the episode that aired was Kourtney and Kim were going to Miami to expand their brand, DASH, a family owned store. This gave me such nostalgia because I remembered “Kourtney and Khloe take Miami”, which was the best spin-off ever created. As I searched Airbnb and so far found the perfect apartment that is both stylish and youthful. While I think every person who is a host on the website doesn’t want parties in their apartment/house, Marki reminded me that since we will be in Miami, we don’t need to stay in the apartment, which I totally agree.  We plan on driving to Miami and stay for about a week.

I am looking forward to what senior year has in store for but I am also excited for the fun plans that my friends and I are making to capitalize on successes that we have achieved here at Fontbonne and in our own personal lives. No matter where we go via Airbnb, we’ll make the most of our time together. Anywhere we go we bring the party, we bring the atmosphere, and we bring the attitude.

Griffin 101

by DeMarcus June 27, 2016

Griffin 101 has been amazing so far! The team members that I am working with are unique in their own way but most importantly, we work well with one another. So far, each Griffin 101 Leader has exceeded my expectations, and I know that this program will be in good hands after I graduate Fontbonne […]

Room 316

by DeMarcus June 27, 2016

Room 316 has served as the residential hub for most of the summer residents this far. Before it became a residential hub, it was just a normal apartment on the third floor of the Fine Arts building, also known as Southwest. A little over a month ago, I moved into this apartment with the expectation […]

Was I Wrong?

by DeMarcus October 6, 2015

Lately I think my friends think that I’ve been ignoring them, which isn’t the case. I have just been trying to adjust to my new major and have a mind of my own. Since August 9th, we have spent almost every waking moment together. By any means this isn’t a bad thing, I was just starting […]

The Ultimate Fontbonne Excursion

by DeMarcus October 6, 2015

This weekend was full of events ranging from Alumni Weekend, Mini-Dance Marathon, and Fontbonne gaming events. To kick off my weekend, I just lounged around the AMC to conserve my energy for the mini-marathon later Friday evening. I love Dance Marathon (DM) to its entirety that I had to give it my all. When 5:30PM […]

Be Something Beautiful

by DeMarcus September 28, 2015

“There could never be a more beautiful you”  is the lyric sung by Christian artist Johnny Diaz in his song “Beautiful You.” Last week, this lyric constantly played in my head over and over. While the song is a toe tapper, I started to think about times I tried alter myself to blend in but […]
