As advising week approaches, its crazy to think that next semester I am going into my senior year. Wow has time flown. I feel like I didn’t graduate from high school that long ago. Just thinking about how much I have grown and how Fontbonne helped me. Fontbonne helped me figure out what I want my future to be, career wise and spiritually. I am just astonished by how close I am to the “real world”. It is truly scary to me but also exciting. My mom always taught me to be independent and the only person I can depend on is myself. I feel that with what my mom taught me and getting my degree from Fontbonne and the experience I had a Fontbonne I will become a strong independent woman that I know I can and will be.

This is now really embarrassing. When I was younger, for some reason my dream job was to work at Taco Bell. I am blaming my father on this one. Since my parents are separated I would go see my dad every other weekend. Yes, we would always go to Taco Bell. Of course it did not take me to college to figure out that was not my dream job. I mean I was a kid I did not know any better. I still love Taco Bell though. Now in college, I know that I want to go into advertising. Right now I am not thinking about going into a huge firm. Actually, it would be a huge opportunity if I was able to be on the Target advertising team. I know that is not setting my goals too high for my overall career, but for right now it is pretty high. I am completely happy with it!

This week had many ups and downs. My highlight of the week was that during Fontbonnes’ bowling league on Monday nights I finally beat my high score of 199. At the end of the second game I had a score of 207. I was so happy, you should have seen my victory dance. I almost fell on my face because I was so happy, jumping up and down for joy. This week has also been stressful with things I’m involved in and homework/tests. Then to end the week, my mom gave me the ‘ok’ to go to Colorado over the summer to see my boyfriend! Next month we are celebrating three years by having a wonderful skype date. (:

This past week I have felt so encouraged by my friends, my boyfriend, and God. I feel so loved every single day. With it being Valentines day this week, so many surprises came my way. For one, my boyfriend surprised me by sending me flowers. It totally made my day, even though I couldn’t be with him on Valentines day. I have felt that lately God has been helping me strengthen my relationship with him because I am sure he knows I have been unsure about my faith. Without these people plus my family I would be lost and I am glad they are all close to me, except my boyfriend since he is in Colorado. This week has just been perfect, I hope more weeks like this come more often. I know God is on my side! I am excited about this weekend because I am volunteering at the Magic House. One of my favorite places in St. Louis. Also I am going to be busy writing for the Fontbanner but I am very excited that I can be a part of a great group of people.

Last semester I took “Intro to Advertising” and yes I’m an advertising major. This has been my favorite class since I started at Fontbonne, though this is my second semester here. This class reassured me that advertising is what I want to do. It only took 3 major changes and I finally found the right one. Intro to advertising was my favorite class last semester because of the content and also Mrs. Keli Jackson. I liked the way she taught the class because she did not beat around the bush about anything. Also, helped me realize why I want to be in advertising. I always felt like a creative person but I did not know how to apply it. Now I realized I can push my creativity into advertising specifically the copy writing of ads. This class was a huge eye opener for me.

Hey Griffins! Thanksgiving was a few days ago and I had a wonderful time with my family. I’ve been thankful for a lot this year. My number one would be my family; they are always there for me and have been really supportive. I’m also thankful for my boyfriend and his family. Over the summer paying for me to come out to Colorado and this winter break letting me come out for 3 weeks and spend the holidays with them. Other things I am thankful are being able to be at Fontbonne to get a good education, the new friends I have met here, and just life in general. Life has been good to me and other people; and I think some people take it for granted. Lastly, I am thankful that the semester is almost over!

Hey Griffins! As we all know yesterday was election day. It was my first time being able to vote and I took my opportunity. I feel that it is important for young people like us to vote. It may or may not affect us now but in the future it will. And, most likely it will affect our future children. This election was so close, I got worried that the candidate I voted for was not going to win. I also thought it would of been tied. Overall I was pleased with the election and knowing that I took a stand on who I want to run this country made me feel good. I believe it is important for everyone to vote. People back then fought for the right to vote and now people do not understand why voting is so important. It is very important, every vote counts. So I’ll leave you with this, be educated on the candidates and register to vote. We have the privilege to vote, why not use it.

Hey Griffins!

College is different than high school. Since I am a transfer student, I already have some college experience. What is different for me is that this is my first time being in a completely different state than where I’m from. Saint Louis is still new to me and I’m still getting use to it. I like the feeling that I’m finally on my own. By the time I graduate from Fontbonne I feel that I won’t have too much of a hard time officially moving out of my parents house. Until then I’m enjoying my time at fontbonne and as a college student until I have to be in the real world.

I think we can all agree that this semester has flown by quickly. I feel school just started a few weeks ago but we only have two months left of the fall semester. I took it easy this semester because I am at a new school and I wanted to get the hang of things before I overload with school. Part of me wants this to end, but then another part of me wants it to keep going. I love my classes I am taking, and all the new friends I have made are awesome! It makes me sad that some of them are seniors this year and they are leaving me. I wish them the best of luck and hope we will stay in touch. Even though this semester is great, I am looking forward to next semester. The classes that I want to take seem like they are going to be fun and interesting. I am hoping to also make more new friends. Until next time Griffins!

Thursday (9/27) was my 21st birthday! My mom traveled all the way from Plainfield, IL to surprise me. It was a huge surprise because everyone knew, even my roommate. So I was able to go home for the weekend and my roommate came with. It was so much fun, I showed her around my neck of the woods and some of my family. I didn’t do much school work over the weekend, so now I’m paying for it.

This week I have 2 tests and a paper due. Talk about a lot of studying! One thing that helps me study is repetition. I usually write down everything I need to know onto new paper. It’s easier than flipping through all of my notes and it helps me remember the material also. To study, I also quiz myself a lot on definitions or people I have to know.

It is crazy to think that it is pretty much midterm time. Where did this semester go? I’m so glad that I am at Fontbonne. Good luck Griffins that have midterms, I wish you the best of luck!
