The last two week of the semester are the most stressful. Almost as stressful as Finals week itself. Making sure that you have asked off work or organized your time around work and making sure you have everything you need to get all of your projects done, papers written, and studying done for finals. Successful preparing for finals week can make the actual finals much easier and less stressful. By starting early, it is easier to plan out what needs to be done by when so that you can be as successful and possible and not worry about finishing everything or forgetting something. Some tips include:

  • Making a timeline of when you want to work on the final for each class
  • Set a day or time for each class
  • Set a certain portion of each class final for each day
  • Set study breaks
  • Plan in distraction time (we all need a break and sometimes a 30-minute nap can really save you)
  • Get good snacks and drinks when you start studying (sometimes a drink run can turn into too long of a distraction)
  • Set a solid playlist to help you stay focused

Whatever you do, you are going to be successful if you put your mind to it. Good luck and know you are in the home stretch!

Xoxo,
Claire

Hello Fonties!!
Spring break is finally upon us. I wanted to share my plans for this upcoming week off from classes.
Unfortunately I will still be working on spring break, but I will get to switch it up to some day shifts instead of my usual night shifts. I plan to sleep in as much as I can and use as few alarms as possible. I am hoping the weather clears up and I will be to go hiking or take in a trip to the zoo. Although we have a week off from class, I will still be on campus Wednesday night for my 8 week night class. I plan to start working on my final projects so they don’t all pile up on me the last weeks of school. Crazy to think we will only have a few weeks before finals when we come back from spring break!!

Have fun this spring break Fontbonne and be safe!

xoxo,
Claire

study tips for midterms

by Claire on March 6, 2017

in Academics

Midterms. Halfway done with Spring ’17. With spring break just around the corner, midterms are in full-swing on campus. Some of my favorite study tips include:

  1. Make time to go outside and enjoy nature when it is nice out.
  2. Do your homework as early as possible and start studying a little bit each day for tests, so when it comes time for the night before a test, you aren’t cramming everything into one night.
  3. Stick to some vitamin C for your energy, not sugar drinks and coffee.
  4. But do take the time to relax and have some fun.
  5. Start on projects and papers early because everyone knows how there is that one day that every assignment seems to be due on.

Just take it day by day and soon enough midterms will be over and spring break will be here!! We are almost there Griffins, hold on tight!

xoxo.

As Spring Semester is in full swing, I wanted to share a few things I am excited about in this coming year.

I am so excited to have the opportunity to be spending my summer abroad this summer studying Photography at Regent’s University in London. I am thankful for Fontbonne for giving me this opportunity and giving me the channel to explore my creativity across the pond.

I was fortunate to be able to receive a partial scholarship because of my involvement in the Honors Program here at Fontbonne University. Without this, it is unlikely that I would have been able to do this.

This opportunity will allow me to test myself by moving to another country for 7 weeks by myself, not knowing anyone else going. This is the time in our lives where we can go and be spontaneous and find ourselves. Thinking of all of the people I am going to met, food I am going to eat, and places I am going to see are making me want this semester to go by even faster!

I cannot wait to be able to come back to Fontbonne and share my experiences with my friends, family, and peers and help to make me a better person and leader on campus.

I am so excited for the things I have coming up for me in the rest of 2017 and I hope you have a wonderful year filled with adventure, excitement, and amazing people.

xoxo,

Claire

The Fontbonne Mission

by Claire February 8, 2017

The Fontbonne Mission is something that is always lurking in the shadows on campus. It is always present whether we know it or not. To me, the Fontbonne Mission is perfectly aligned with what the President and educators promote on campus every day. “Fontbonne University, a Catholic institution sponsored by the Sisters of St. Joseph of […]

Favorite Music

by Claire November 3, 2016

A very common question that gets asked on an almost daily basis is what is your favorite kind of music? To this question, I never have an answer. My favorite song changes almost daily and the idea of limiting myself to one song, one group, or even one genre is frightening. As a commuter, my […]

Halloween is right around the corner and the spooky spirit is all over campus. From the painted pumpkins to the falling leaves, it feels just like Halloween around campus. Some of my favorite Halloween activities involve carving pumpkins and baking pumpkin seeds. Ever since I can remember, my family and I have all gone to a […]

Inspiring Education

by Claire October 12, 2016

As I am a sophomore in college, there are a variety of educators who have influenced me. One of the most impactful teachers was an english instructor my senior year of high school. Thinking my writing skills were at the level they needed to be at, I was shocked when I did not receive the […]
