Living on campus has been a whole new and great experience for me. I have enjoy living on campus and I can’t believe we all have to leave our dorms and rommies soon. In this post I will share about some members of the 4th floor of Saint Joseph Hall, where I live. This is a tribute of “Humans of New York” by Brandon Stanton, which is a photoblog of people that live in New York City. I really enjoy having this short interesting conversations with each one of them, hope you enjoy their different thoughts too.

Octavia

“I am studying Anatomy right now. The best way to learn is through visual for me, so I write down all the information, charts, and some vocabulary words. This helps me lot to remember.”

Lilian

“I like living on campus because of all friendships you can form with the people of your floor, also it was a great experience sharing the room with my cousin!”

Austin

“I like Fontbonne because everyone is friendly and easy to get along with.”

Sarah

“I am a big fan of the Cardinals because they represent Saint Louis and I think they are part of the culture of this city. I love baseball! Since senior year of high school I became a huge fan. I love going to the games, and have good memories about it, I always try to go to the majority of their games during season.”

Carli

“This semester was fun, stressful, and I got closer with so many people.”

Sanita

“In the moment I came to the US, I realized that I need to start all over again, and I think I did great. I already can say that I have met here friends who will stay in my life forever. I have lived on the dorms just for four months, but I already have memories with people that I will remember for a long time.”

Raven

“I love Basketball because I grew up playing it. Also, it is a sport that bonds myself and my family.”

Cecilia

“I enjoy watching Downtown Abby because it is in a different time period. You kind of connect with each one of the characters because of their stories. The most interesting for me is what the servants had to go through at that time. I could say Downtown Abby is a funny, dramatic, and fancy show.”

Max

“I really like Fontbonne because of all friends I have made.”

Noella

“I like Saint Louis because there are more things to do than where I used to live. My favorites places to go are the Zoo and Art Museum at Forest Park.”

Sarah

“I love interacting with the residents and building a community. The friends made during the first year of college are friends a person will have the rest of their life. I am glad I get to be a part of that.”

Cassie and Hannah

“We have had the best time sharing a room together, we have a lot of fun having roommate nights and we are also best friends.”

Maddie

“My favorite place on campus would have to be the AMC. It is the perfect study spot and also great place to hang out with friends.”

Crazy to see how time flies! I can’t believe this semester is almost over, it went really fast for me, and I am sure for a lot of other people too. Even though these last three weeks will be stressful, I want to recall that this semester has been great. It has been a semester of learning and good experiences. I really have enjoyed my major classes, I started doing observations practices at different schools and it has been a great way to get involved in the field of education. I have met very nice people, and I have explored new places in this beautiful city. So glad of completing this year, and so ready for the next one! Good luck to everyone with all the final assignments and exams!

Summer is around the corner!

Hello!

In this post, I would like to share about some music artists I heard this last Friday. I went to this small concert with a friend and even though we didn’t knew who was playing, we both ended up loving the bands. I have go before to this concert events, which are made by a music organization here in Saint Louis. One of the fun and interesting aspects about these concerts is that you don’t know who is playing till the day of the concert, it is always surprise, and it is so exciting! I really enjoy going to this concert, there were approximately 40 people and I could really appreciate the live music.

Three local bands performed in the concert, and I really like all of them. The first one was this girl called Hillary Fitz, which played songs with an Indie and Folk style. The second artist was Teszla, her music was very chill, electronic, and R&B, I think it was good mix of different styles. The third and last ones were Oskar and Julia, which were a married couple, and sang country music. I usually don’t hear country music, so it was cool hearing more about this music genre.

I love exploring local bands, they usually remain for a small target, but their music has always something different and original. This is something I have noticed in local bands back in my home country, Ecuador, and here in Saint Louis too. We all hear music from huge, very famous, and commercial artists, which is something amazing because they make great music. But, there is something special about local small bands that you don’t usually hear, for example, in radios or social media. This is why I really like going to small concerts, to give local music artists support, and let them know they have great talent too.

They are all on Spotify, if you are interested in listening them!!

Some pics I took 🙂

Hi everyone!

Last week I had the opportunity to participate in the Holi Festival of Colors for the first time, and it was awesome. When I heard about this event, I found it so interesting and fun! Holi is an Hindu spring festival, celebrated in India and Nepal. It is a joyful day in which people celebrate the beginning of Spring.

So I wished that the day we celebrated Holi at Fontbonne would have been sunny, but as we know Saint Louis weather can change at anytime, that day we had snow. Hopefully the event was not cancelled. A group of 20 students approximately came, we enjoy some delicious Hindu desserts, and then everyone picked two colors. We all went outside and after the count of three, we all throw the colors to the sky and to each other saying “Happy Holi”. Not even a minute and I was already full of different colors, my hair, my face, and the white tshirt I had were a rainbow. It was so cool! I couldn’t believe I was all colored. Sadly, I couldn’t stay the whole time because I had a class, but everyone stay celebrating Holi for more than half an hour. It was a experience I will never forget, I really enjoy it!

Adriana 🙂

Here I post some colored pics!
