Break just seemed to drag on for me. I am still used to my one week of high school break so this seemed like FOREVER!

Classes and homework are back too. I had all my classes and have no problems with any of them. Although my online class is already making homework due….. This will be a great semester!

Also, being back means volleyball has started. I am so excited for this season. We have a great team and have been working very hard in practices for our upcoming game on January 28th.

This campus is small but wonderful. I love the close atmosphere and also I enjoy seeing everyone so much. I feel that this has had a great impact on me. I came from a huge high school of over 2,000 kids. My graduating class was over 500 itself. I would go a whole day without seeing my friends, or half the time, I would walk past them and not notice it since there were so many kids. I think Fontbonne has been great for me to get to know everyone (students and faculty) on a greater level since I see them so frequently. I have become closer friends with people here than I ever did in my four years of high school because we live together and also because I see them daily. It is just what I needed right before entering the real world by myself. THANKS, FONTBONNE!

Maybe because we all live in the same buildings, see each other everyday, eat together, hang out together, and very few people have medicine. Man i LOVE campus-wide diseases!

There are many different classes offered at Fontbonne. I feel that any class you take will be difficult and challenging because it is all new information and you should want to challenge yourself. Right now, for me, my hardest class at the moment would have to be English 101. I say this because I don’t really like to read, and I am not a very good writer. Well, that is an issue for this class. This whole class is graded on writing about things you have read. We are graded on 3 essays and 3 response papers. So, basically 6 papers are our grade…. no tests or anything! Luckily I am carrying an A in it right now after 3 papers, and we just turned in a 4th paper, so we shall see!

I started playing volleyball in 3rd grade on a CYC team for a church near my house. I loved the sport and always thought I was decent at it, but didn’t want to go anywhere with it. Then when I hit eighth grade, my gym teacher (during the volleyball unit) told me I was good and should try out for club volleyball. I was unsure as to what that even was, so I thought I would give it a try. I went to the tryouts and actually made it. I was shocked because I didn’t think I was good enough to even play volleyball at a competitive level. Not knowing what to expect, we had our first tournament. I went in owith an open mind and thought whatever happens, happens. Ends up that I LOVED IT! I went on continuing to play club all through high school. I was a starting varsity player ever since sophomore year. I really enjoyed the coach and the team a lot. Then my senior year came around, and we had a GREAT team… We ended up winning state with an undefeated record of 35-0. Now, not to brag or anything, but that is something that not many people can say that they accomplished. When the Fontbonne Men’s Volleyball coach contacted me to play, I was ecstatic. I immediately said yes. I came on campus and then got a text from one of the seniors on the team about our first open gym. My stomach dropped. I didn’t know anyone on the team, didn’t know that coach, and didn’t even know how I would do at the college level. I was scared! Now that I am into volleyball for a month, I love it here. The boys are awesome, the coach is awesome, and I can hold my own out on the court. Thanks to all my coaches in the past who have got me to where I am today.

COME WATCH THE FBU MENS TEAM PLAY STARTING IN JANUARY!!!

This week, I was asked to talk about someone on campus who is important to know. Well, I couldn’t physically name just one person. I feel every adult on campus is important to know in some way for some reason. Depending on what your interests are, some people are more important than others. The people that I feel everyone should know are the president (Dr. Golden), their advisor, and the admissions people. I feel like everyone on campus should be close with the president in order to unite the campus with each other. You advisor will be important to you for all 4 years of your college. The will make your schedule, help with problems, and are just a good person to talk to with any problems. The admissions people are the ones who got you here. They gave you your scholarship, they accepted you, and they take care of any transcript issues. It is definitely important to be involved with the admissions people.

Now for the individuals. If you are a sports player, obviously your coach is a good person to get close with, especially if you play all 4 years. Whatever clubs, or extracurricular activities you are involved in play a huge role in who your are so you should get to know the president of the clubs and the other club members also.
