Black History Month

What does it mean to me? Hmm… I’m going to be honest, I don’t get excited about Black History Month. It’s hard to explain. On one hand, I’m not like, “Yay! Black History Month!” On the other hand, I’m not like, “Bleh! Black History Month.” I’m more like, “Black History Month is cool.”
I guess it’s easier to say it like this: I respect my African-descended neighbors. I know that they are heavily underestimated because of fear, ignorance, and stereotypes. So, I’m glad that Americans have a month to recall on African heroes and recognize their accomplishments.
However, to me, Black History extends farther than America. Recently, I’ve been reading articles and watching documentaries about the presence of Africans in Europe. It’s really quite fascinating. I’ll put a few links below so that you can learn a thing or two without me rambling on. They’re all safe for work.

I’ll leave y’all with a couple of questions: Did you like what you saw? What did you learn? What stuck out to you the most? How do you feel about it?

Have a wonderful Black History Month everyone!
