Student Alumni Association

in Organizations, Activities & Events

One campus organization that I am involved in and really enjoy is the Student Alumni Association here at Fontbonne. Student Alumni Association (SAA) gives students the opportunity to reach out to Fontbonne graduates of many different majors and discuss life after graduation. SAA puts on many different events such as Dinner with 12 Strangers, which is when six students of the same major enjoy a provided dinner with six Fontbonne alumni in the same field. They learn tips and tricks and interview pointers, and it is a great opportunity to network.

Also, SAA works closely with other Student Alumni Associations at schools in the surrounding area like Webster University and Washington University. This allows Fontbonne students to get to know others in the same group and get ideas for their own organization. I would highly recommend joining the Student Alumni Association here because it gives students an insider’s perspective on what to do in order to succeed after graduation. This organization gives students the skills and strategies they need to move forward with their specific majors. This organization also has something called a “Speaker Series” where a Fontbonne graduate comes in to speak with us about their own life since they left Fontbonne and how Fontbonne shaped and guided that transition. We have had speakers come in to talk about business, education, and marketing. Soon there will be a speaker about financial aid and savings after graduation. Student Alumni Association has so many amazing opportunities for students — I would suggest it for any current and incoming students!

Upcoming events:

·         Feb. 9 at 11 a.m. We are meeting in the Stroble room for our first Speaker Series of the semester! James Vincent from Financial Aid will be coming in, he is going to be talking about what to do with financial aid after graduation.

·         Feb. 11 is the Battle of Big Bend, so come and root for our teams. The women’s game is at 6 p.m. and the men’s game is at 8 p.m. SAA will sponsor an alumni raffle drawing. There will be a FREE nacho bar and prizes!

·         Feb. 16 at 11 a.m. We are meeting in the Stroble Room once again for our Speaker Series! Sara Hermann ’09 will be coming in to speak about Education and moving from Student to Alumni!

Reminder: Speaker series aren’t just about the major they are speaking about. The speakers coming in and talk about life after graduation from Fontbonne. It gives students a connection to start networking, and it also gives some tips on how to succeed in life after graduation.
