2014 FAB Retreat
Done with one year and on to planning the next. That’s how my summer started. I went on a four-day retreat with the exec team on the Fontbonne Activities Board. It was a time to complete some deep planning for events for the next school year and also a great time for team bonding. This is so important because making special connections with our coworkers will help us be more cohesive and excited about the event programming we do.
The retreat was at Innsbrook Resort in Wright City, Missouri. We stayed in a cozy chalet, which is similar to a condo setup. There were nine students and one advisor. We fit fairly comfortably though. Within the private resort, there were multiple lakes, woods to explore, tennis courts, golf courses, horseback riding, and more. Most of our free time was spent in the woods and lakes. And inside playing Just Dance on the Wii and Disney karaoke. Not to brag, but we are a pretty fun (and goofy) group. A majority of our planning sessions occurred outside on the back deck. We had a nice bonfire going out there in the evenings.
Although we had a lot of fun and silly moments, we were very productive as well. Myself and the rest of the board are very excited for the upcoming events for the ’14-’15 school year. The Fontbonne community is about to experience some great performers, spirit weeks, and off campus events (which is just the tip of the iceberg). I’m already really looking forward to the next school year. But before that, I’ve got a whole summer to experience!
