Meet Me At The Muny!

in In Saint Louis

Despite the fact that we have months upon months until summer, I am overly excited to say that The Muny, the nation’s oldest and largest outdoor theater right here in Forest Park, has released its summer 2011 season.

The news came out Monday that performances begin on June 20 with The Muny’s premiere of “Legally Blonde.” Then, it’s on to “Kiss Me, Kate,” The Muny’s premiere of Disney’s “The Little Mermaid,” “Singin’ in the Rain” (one of my absolute favorites), “Little Shop of Horrors,” and “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.” The season closes with “Bye Bye Birdie.”

For those of you who have never gone to The Muny, I highly suggest that you take a trip there this summer. This upcoming season surely has something for everyone, from tap-dance romance classics like “Singin’ in the Rain” to shows about man-eating plants (“Little Shop of Horrors”) to shows about every blonde’s favorite movie (you guessed it!). Since tickets are reasonably priced (usually about $8 for the cheapest, yet still great, reserved seat), and since there are over 1,000 free, yes FREE, seats in the house, The Muny always accounts for a great night out with friends. So be sure to “Meet Me at the Muny” – I’ll be there every Saturday night all summer long!!!
